Khan Academy is a free platform that is really easy to use and full of free courses aimed at K-12 and early college. Unfortunately, Khan Academy is completely unaccredited, which makes it best used as a supplement to study for an accredited degree. While some of the courses feel amateur in audio or video production, the overall courses are all good at actually teaching the subject. The user interface, studying tools, usage metrics, and little awards are all nice touches that help make Khan Academy feel like a premium service even though it is a completely free service.

Edureka isn’t very comparable to Khan Academy since Edureka tends to offer live courses that are offered in real time with an instructor and tutors who are there to help make sure you actually learn the subject. Also, Edureka is very much tech and IT focused, so if you’re looking for a career in programming, sysadmin, devops or other professional computing related jobs, then Edureka is a learning platform you should consider. For everyone else, it’s safe to ignore Edureka.

Khan Academy: From kindergarten to college level courses, Kahn Academy covers all the basics.
While you cannot deny that Edureka has more courses then Khan Academy, they are both great learning services in their own right.

Edureka: Live online instructor lead courses & real time support mean you can always reach out if you need a little help on the course.
Khan Academy does not let just anyone teach their courses, but instead have a strict policy to only allow the best teachers to create one of their courses. Edureka is very strict about who can teach their courses, only allowing the best teachers to develop and publish courses. Both Khan Academy and Edureka have similiar quality courses, since they both only allow the most qualified teachers to create courses.

While Khan Academy doesn't offer courses in all the categories we track, they do cover Information Technology, Programming & Coding, Business, and a few other things. While Edureka doesn't offer courses in all the categories we track, they do cover Information Technology, Programming & Coding, Data Science, and a few other things.

Edureka exclusively provides courses on modern tech skills and use live instructors and real-time tutors you can chat with. This prevents Edureka from offering a lot of courses, since they require multiple staff to teach and tutor each course. This limitation is the main reason that Edureka focuses only on a small number of career building tech courses and certification training.

Khan Academy doesn’t have as many courses as Edureka, but they do cover a few more subjects other than tech. Khan Academy only provides on-demand self-paced courses, unlike Edureka who provide courses with live instructors. Also in stark contrast to Edureka, don’t expect to talk with anyone at Khan Academy if you get stuck on a course. If you have questions, find a community or ask your friends on social media.

Course Selection Review

Winner: Edureka
Edureka has more courses than Khan Academy.
Edureka has more courses than Khan Academy. Both services do screen their course creators, but Edureka has a larger selection of courses to choose from.

Learning Platform Review

Winner: Edureka
It was slightly easier to follow along & learn using Edureka
When I talk about platforms, I am talking about the ways that the site teaches you, like video tutorials, interactive projects and hands-on testing, as well as awarding certificates. While the Khan Academy platform is great, it is not quite as good as Edureka in my experience. They are both great platform, but Edureka wins.

User Experience Review

Winner: Edureka
Edureka has a slightly better user experience.
When we review the platform, we are looking at the learning angles of the experience, but for the User Experience Review we look at everything else, including the sign-up process, the wait-times, the quality of courses, support, emails, billing and more. As an end user, I found Khan Academy to be a good experience, but the user experience overall using Edureka was better. I definitely recommend them both, but Edureka is the winner in this category.

Value Proposition Review

Winner: Khan Academy
Khan Academy offers a better value for most learners.
This is a tough category to judge because value is so subjective and some platforms are better values in certain situations but not others. To that end, in our opinion Khan Academy seems to be the better value for most people, although there are some arguments for Edureka being a great value as well.

Overall Review

Winner: Edureka
Out of these two great services, Edureka is our choice.
When I write reviews, I like to clearly outline the better choice. In this case, we have two great services, but Edureka managed to take the victory. We recommend Edureka because: Live online instructor lead courses & real time support mean you can always reach out if you need a little help on the course.

Pros & Cons of Each Service

Both Khan Academy and Edureka are amazing learning services and platforms, but they each have their PROs and CONs. In this section, I have outlined PROs and CONs for both services, specifically with how they compare to each other.

Final Thoughts

Khan Academy VS Edureka isn’t much of a match-up. Really, they both do a good job of serving a drastically different audience.

If all things are equal, I would say that Edureka is my recommendation, due to their high quality live, instructor-led courses, but for people looking for free K-12 courses it’s clear that Khan Academy is the better fit.

I’ve tried to cover all the differences between these two services in this comparative review, but please let me know if I missed anything important by leaving a comment below.
