ed2go: Providing high school & college degrees, accredited online courses
It is true that ed2go has more courses then FutureLearn, but that is not the whole story.

ed2go: Providing high school & college degrees, accredited online courses FutureLearn: Flexible enough to teach you small subjects, but versatile enough to get you a full college degree.

FutureLearn: Flexible enough to teach you small subjects, but versatile enough to get you a full college degree.
ed2go does not let just anyone teach their courses, but instead have a strict policy to only allow the best teachers to create one of their courses. FutureLearn is a learning platform that will allow any expert on a subject to create their own courses, as long as they pass a basic screening process. ed2go has better consistency and higher quality courses in general compared to FutureLearn because ed2go has fewer course creators who were screened heavily, while FutureLearn allows anyone to create courses.

Both platforms cover all the subjects which we write about here LearnOnline.shop.

ed2go offers accredited remote high school classes, something that FutureLearn does not have.

Both services have a lot tech related courses but also feature a large amount of non-tech focused courses.

While you can take courses on either service from most countries, FutureLearn is based out of Europe while ed2go is run from North America. This is reflected in some of the course work and accreditation, so keep that in mind before enrolling.

Course Quality Review

Winner: ed2go
ed2go consistently has the higher quality courses.
In my opinion, while both services offer high quality courses, the victor has to be ed2go because they consistently have higher quality courses when compared to FutureLearn. Undoubtedly the fact that ed2go has heavily screened and vetted course creators, while FutureLearn allows anyone to make their own courses has a lot to do with the difference in quality.

Course Selection Review

Winner: ed2go
ed2go has more courses than FutureLearn.
ed2go has more courses than FutureLearn. Even though ed2go limits the number of course creators on their platform, while FutureLearn does not, ed2go manages to have more courses despite this!

Learning Platform Review

Winner: Tied
Both FutureLearn & ed2go did a good job teaching.
When I talk about platforms, I am talking about the ways that the site teaches you, like video tutorials, interactive projects and hands-on testing, as well as awarding certificates. Both ed2go and FutureLearn provide amazing learning experiences with their platforms. They are both equally matched in these regards, so I am declaring this a tie.

User Experience Review

Winner: FutureLearn
FutureLearn has a slightly better user experience.
When we review the platform, we are looking at the learning angles of the experience, but for the User Experience Review we look at everything else, including the sign-up process, the wait-times, the quality of courses, support, emails, billing and more. As an end user, I found ed2go to be a good experience, but the user experience overall using FutureLearn was better. I definitely recommend them both, but FutureLearn is the winner in this category.

Value Proposition Review

Winner: ed2go
ed2go offers a better value for most learners.
This is a tough category to judge because value is so subjective and some platforms are better values in certain situations but not others. To that end, in our opinion ed2go seems to be the better value for most people, although there are some arguments for FutureLearn being a great value as well.

Overall Review

Winner: ed2go
Out of these two great services, ed2go is our choice.
When I write reviews, I like to clearly outline the better choice. In this case, we have two great services, but ed2go managed to take the victory. We recommend ed2go because: Providing high school & college degrees, accredited online courses

Pros & Cons of Each Service

Both ed2go and FutureLearn are amazing learning services and platforms, but they each have their PROs and CONs. In this section, I have outlined PROs and CONs for both services, specifically with how they compare to each other.

Final Thoughts

I had a hard time review ed2go against FutureLearn because I like both platforms for different reasons. FutureLearn has a fantastic user experience that makes it fun and easy to take their courses, which is a big step up compared to how it feels to take a course on ed2go.

With that said, the ability to get an accredited certificate or degree at a prestigious college in your own region looks good on your resume or CV.

In the end, I like both services, but if I had to choose one it would be ed2go, since they have more classes, more accreditation and more focus on career building. FutureLearn is still fantastic, and I personally use FutureLearn more than ed2go right now, but that’s mainly because I’m doing free courses for my own edification rather than looking for employment.

Thanks for reading, let me know in the comments if you have any questions or concerns and most importantly of all: happy learning!
